Update, 8/15/22: We now have a solution that works in Windows 10’s May 2020 Update and Windows 11. Or, you could just disable the Bing integration in the Start Menu. Windows 10, by default, sends everything you search for in the Start Menu to their servers to give you results from Bing search - so you better make sure that you don’t type anything private into your own PC’s Start Menu. Right-click empty space in the right pane, then create a new DOWRD (32-bit) named "DisableSearchBoxSuggestions" and set the value to 1. In the same menu, there’s the option to restore a previously saved settings configuration.To remove Bing from the Windows 10 Start Menu, open the Registry Editor (RegEdit), then paste "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer" into the address bar. When you have everything figured out and working as intended, click the File menu and export the settings to a registry file. No need to worry, just go back and uncheck/disable that particular option in O&O ShutUp10 if you need to re-enable it.
O&O Shut Up 10 doesn’t just disable settings but also blocks some services. One important caveat is that you could start to see a lot of options in the Settings app becoming unavailable. It will also recommend you run the program from time to time, especially after important system updates, as some settings will be reverted by Windows. O&O Shut Up 10 will inform you about that. Note the factory settings option, which will restore everything to its default, so Windows can gather every bit of info about you as it pleases.ĭepending on what you check/uncheck, a system restart could be required. I recommend you do a system restore point before applying anything.
